2026 MGV AGM

Message from Incoming Chair - Jeremy McCartin

Thank you to everyone who participated in the online AGM that was held on Friday 14/08/26. The meeting attracted about 90 attendees which was so pleasing to the exec and we hope this helped you combine your work and meeting commitments on the day.

I would like to again say thank you to outgoing chair, Blake Nolan and thank you to all the Executive Members and the Secretariat for their help and support throughout the year and I look forward to working with the new exec and continuing the great work that the exec has done. I absolutely commend Blake Nolan for his outstanding leadership of the group over the last eighteen months.

I am personally incredibly honored to accept the Chair of the Municipal Group of Valuers. I have been on the executive since 2018 and the most amazing thing for me has been to see the generational change that has taken place. The baton has definitely been passed to the next generation of leaders in our industry and they are here and I couldn’t be happier knowing that the future of the MGV is with such a committed group of people. So, as we celebrate 95 years and head to 100, there is so much to do and so much to look forward to.

The new executive will map out our upcoming events for the next year and we will be in touch just as soon as we know more. Being mid-year, there is a slight change to what you are used to in seeing program events for twelve months. There will definitely be a lot more online functions to allow our regional members to participate in events. That’s very important. We are going to have sub-committees for education and for country representation. So there is a lot happening and we need your engagement as well.

Unfortunately, since announcing at the AGM that we hoped to hold a combined 95th Celebratory MGV Anniversary & Christmas Party, we advise  that this has become too difficult with dates, so we will be in touch shortly with details of the proposeddaytime Christmas Meeting Event.

I extend my thanks to the team at HTW for hosting the exec for the AGM. We were very fortunate to have guest speaker Jake Koumoundouros present to us at the AGM. Jake is the Acting Manager, Infrastructure Coordination and Planning Program and Integration, Housing, Building and Land Delivery, Department of Transport and Planning and he presented on the very topical subject of Infrastructure and Development Staging in Precinct Structure Plans.

I thank those exec members who have remained on the exec andextend a very warmwelcome to new members Sophie Walsh, Daniel Scarfo, Jackie Rui & Ben Sawyer and I look forward to working with you.

And I would like to extend a huge thanks to our outgoing exec members Liam Botterill, Mark Angerame & Helen Crews and thank them for their contribution to the group and the exec.
